About the Role

We are looking for people passionate about history to join our volunteer team as Short Talk Volunteers. Could you bring the stories of Witley Court to life for our visitors?

Witley has a lot of stories that can be told from the site’s early history as a Jacobean Manor House to its Victorian hey-day and the royal visit of Edward VII. As well as telling stories already researched there will also be the opportunity to collaborate on developing new talks.

Shifts are a minimum of 2.5hrs we would like to see you weekly or at least twice a month. Shifts are available 11am to 4pm every day during April to October and weekends only 11am to 3pm November to March. Early week days are quieter than Fridays and weekends.

Please note this is an outdoors role in all weathers.

About the Organisation

Witley Court

Discover the secrets and stories of a lost world at this magnificent country house. Built in the 17th century and remodelled in Victorian times, disaster struck in 1937 when a fire ripped through the Italianate building.

Today it’s the perfect place for a family adventure, with dramatic ruins, beautiful gardens and wild woodlands waiting to be explored. There’s even an amazing play area for children inspired by nature, with a tree house, wobbly bridge and outdoor musical instruments.
