About the Role

We have a number of different areas that we would like to get more volunteers involved with this could be:

  • Attending events, manning a stall and talking to the public

  • Giving talks or demonstrations to local schools, clubs, groups or neighbours

  • Writing articles for publication in a local magazine/paper/newsletter

  • Creating material for our social media accounts and helping to promote them.

Training is provided to include:

  • An initial one-day training course covering Waste in Worcestershire

  • Additional ongoing training on topics of interest to you such as composting, recycling, social media

  • You will be supported by a Volunteer Coordinator and other experienced team members and volunteers

Skills and Qualifications

  • An interest in talking about and promoting waste reduction

  • Able to share knowledge and/or present information to others

  • Good communication skills and a friendly welcoming approach

  • A desire to extend knowledge in sustainable waste management

However all training is provided and we do not expect our volunteers to have extensive experience, this is an opportunity for them to learn as well as teaching others.

About the Organisation

Lets Waste Less Volunteers encourage people in their local community to reduce the amount of waste they throw away; this could be via composting, food waste   reduction, recycling more, reusing or repairing items or not generating the   waste in the first place.

By bringing this message directly to communities we aim to help people on their journey to becoming more sustainable and to take their own small steps to help reduce our environmental impact.

This is funded by Worcestershire County Council and managed by Resource Futures (an independent environmental consultancy, which is part of the B Corp movement).
