About the Role
FoodCycle volunteers are welcoming and committed people who want to create delicious meals and lasting relationships within their community. As a Hosting Volunteer, you’ll support the team in creating a warm, welcoming environment for our guests, whilst maintaining all social distancing and hygiene guidance. You’ll help guests collect the food for our venue, be a friendly face on arrival, whist help maintain queues and ensure you are on hand to share any allergy advice provided by the cooking team. You’ll be supported by a FoodCycle qualified Project Leader, who will help you develop your hosting skills.
To get involved, register as a volunteer on our volunteer portal and start signing up to hosting slots: https://volunteer.foodcycle.org.uk/
The sessions are Thursday afternoons/evenings.
Skills and Qualifications
No previous experience or skills are required in order to volunteer with FoodCycle, just a can do attitude.
About the Organisation
FoodCycle is a community dining charity that uses surplus food to create a free weekly meal for the local community. We have volunteer support to produce a 3-course, vegetarian meal using the surplus food. This meal is free of charge to all our guests. Everyone is invited, you do not need a referral or booking to join.
Through these community meals we aim to tackle food poverty while also helping to reduce isolation and loneliness within our communities. By getting people together, sat round the dinner table we can start to build resilient communities.
