About the Role
FoodCycle volunteers are welcoming and committed people who want to create delicious meals and lasting relationships within their community. As a Cooking Volunteer, you’ll support the team in creating recipe ideas, help with the preparation of food and the cooking of the meal. You’ll be supported by a FoodCycle Project Leader, who will help make sure the session goes smoothly and is there for any questions you might have, so you don’t have to be a chef to get involved!
To get involved, register as a volunteer on our volunteer portal and start signing up to cooking slots: https://volunteer.foodcycle.org.uk/
The sessions are on Thursday afternoon/evenings.
Skills and Qualifications
No previous experience of working in kitchen is required, just a can do attitude and a willingness to learn.
About the Organisation
FoodCycle is a community dining charity that uses surplus food to create a free weekly meal for the local community. We have volunteer support to produce a 3-course, vegetarian meal using the surplus food. This meal is free of charge to all our guests. Everyone is invited, you do not need a referral or booking to join.
Through these community meals we aim to tackle food poverty while also helping to reduce isolation and loneliness within our communities. By getting people together, sat round the dinner table we can start to build resilient communities.
